2.0 ghz celeron vs 1.5 pentium

OS: win xp pro
CPU/Ram: 2.0ghz celeron/1gb sdram

i was wondering which is faster. i have a 2.0 celeron, 1 gb sdram on a dfi mobo, now i have come across a pentium 1.5 processor, not sure of the board and 512mb rdram, is it comprable to what i already have?

Well from what I hear, the Celerons are easier to overclock then the Pentium, so an overclocked 2.0GHZ Celeron would probably be faster then the pentium, but at defualt specs, I don't know. It all depends on your bus speed and motherboard. The faster the system bus speed, the better you can use the CPU speed.

difference in performance probably depends on what it is being used for. the celeron is a faster cpu but has a smaller cache. so tasks which can take advantage of the larger cache may well go faster on the pentium 1.5, but tasks that cant take good advantage of cache would be better on the celeron 2ghz. I would say there is not an obvious winner here and it does not really sound like its worth changing
