Hi,

Like many other gamers out there, they use headphones or even a headset to play online games, ie Counterstrike.
Whenever I play Counterstrike, I always have to pull my speaker plugs out of the back of my case and plug in my headset.

Is it possible for me to buy another sound card and keep my headset and my speakers hooked up? Could I set it so that sound doesnt come out of my headset unless I open a certain application or are there special programs you can download which can manage the separate volumes of both sound devices?

Thanks for your time.

BTW, I'm using the Nforce2 APU right now and considering to get the Audigy for my speakers and use the Nforce2 APU for my headset.

You can add another sound card. In the control panel/multimedia you can tell the system which sound card to use. So you can switch back and forth there.

I've also seen adapter cables that allow you to plug in headphones and the speakers are cut out. Unfortunately I don't remember where I saw that. I think I would prefer the second sound card anyway, since it avoids plugging and unplugging.

No need to run 2 sound cards...just get a card that supports 4 or more channels...plug speakers into one output jack, headphones into another

You don't even have to get a new sound card you can just buy a new set of speakers with the headphone jack built into the speaker so that when you plug you phones into the jack it cuts off the speaker it works rather well

Yeah Byran that would work but I am using a headset for my online gaming, which requires one green main input and a pink microphone input which is usually not found on speakers. My Logitech 640's have a headphone slot but I've never heard of speakers with a microphone slot also.
