I have 2 PCs and both worked fine up until today. We had
a storm and now both will not turn on. I tried a different
power cable, a different outlet. I tested the power supply
with a tester I have. I unplugged all the drives and
removed the PCI cards, basically everything except for the
connector to the motherboard and kept the RAM and
processor. Nothing. Not a sound or beep. Both
computers have a shuttle ak32vn motherboard. Both
computers were both plugged into a surge protector . Not
sure of any way of seeing if the motherboards still work.
Any advice would be appreciated

When the computers plugged in and the power is switche on, open up the case, remove the atx power connector leave it for a second then reconnect it, then press the on button and your computer should boot. It has happened to me many times before.

Well on my computer, -for some strange reason- when ever the power goes out my computer won't turn back on either. I have to flip the power switch on the PSU back and forth a few times and then it'll come on. Maybe yours is the same?
And do you use a 56k modem? Was the phone line protected also? Those phone line surges will absolutely ruin a computer even the slightest surge can damage it.

Ralphus. You woulnd't happen to live in North Fulton would you? :-)
Storms were pretty bad over here tonight. I unplugged the phone line from the modem. Everything else is jacked through the surge protector.
Er... You have a problem buddy. Any surge could have damaged anything. I would initially suspect the power supplies. It's a toughie, it could be any part of the machines.
