400GB HDD - Secondary IDE Master
DVD-RW - Secondary IDE Slave 2nd question: Would putting both HDD's on the same IDE cable slow performance?

Reply: (edit)Putting both hard disk on the same cable will not slow performance noticeably unless you spend a lot of time copying from one hard disk to the other. However if you are burning from the 400 GB HDD to the DVD that will slow performance as they both have to share the interface. You would be better having both hard disk on the primary interface and the DVD alone on the secondary interface. Stuart
