I know for a hard disk you can split up to a maximum of 4, or 3 primary partitions plus an ext container to hold 12 logical partitions. Sorry I’m new in this but wonder if the method works.

You can have 4 primary partitions per drive. If you want more drives than 4 then you can create 3 primary partitions and 1 extended partition. Only one primary partition can be marked as active. A common configuration is 1 primary partition and 1 extended partition containing as many logical drives as you want or need, up to the drive labeling limitations of DOS. You have it correct except for the limitation of 12 logical drives.

Yep, it works. I'm doing it currently in order to dual-boot several operating systems.
