How's it going guys?
Ive got a similar problem. I want to use 2 keyboards (i own 2). I have a BTC keyboard with one of those green plugs with the little pins. The other is a zboard with a usb plug.
I dont need to use both at the same time, one at a time is fine. i just dont want to unplug one plug in the other and reboot the computer.
What is this 'KVM switch' ive heard of? Could it help me with my problem?
All help MUCH appreciated :-)
Cheers

I dont really see why you would want to use two different keyboards, especially if you dot want to use them at the same time there is really no point.
With that said a KVM switch lets you have two sets of keyboads, mice and screens one one computer or lets you use one set of them on two computers. You press a button on the switch and it changes to another set.

"What is this 'KVM switch' ive heard of?"Short for keyboard, video, mouse switch, a hardware device that enables a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse to control more than one computer one at a time.
KVM switches are popular among users who have upgraded their home PC systems and want to still use their old computers but do not want to invest in a second keyboard, monitor and mouse. KVM switches are also used by business to save money when one person uses more than one computer and in server farms where it is only necessary to periodically access each separate server in the farm one at a time.I believe the bios looks for one keyboard not two.

KVM switches are for servers, when you have multiple servers but only 1 monitor/keyboard/mouse the KVM switch allows you to switch back and forth between servers and control them with the same input device.
It doesn't work the other way around.
out of pure curiosity, why on earth do you want to use 2 different keyboards on 1 computer??
also, you can have a PS2 mouse and a USB mouse hooked up and both usable at the same time, and a laptop can have 2 keyboards hooked up and usable at the same time, so I don't see why you have to reboot to use them. Try booting with just the PS2 keyboard, then plug in the USB keyboard and see if that gives you control with both keyboards at the same time
It says not to put a question here... why not?

"It doesn't work the other way around."
My bad.

KingCody is absolutely right on all counts. I'd just add that a KVM switch is not just for servers. Right now I have 3 PC's (Win2k, Win3.11, Win98 "under modification" on a TRIPP-LITE KVM (some require a separate power supply, this one does not). Sometimes, it just nice to play with 3 toys at one time! :)
In your case, you don't need a KVM. Just plug in both keyboards and enjoy!

Having both PS2 and a USB keyboards pluged in at the same time does in fact work. I actually hjave both plugged in right now because my computer is inconsistently recognizing my USB devices.
