16x pci-e card chioce

Specs: Windows XP, core-2-duoE4500/2gb ddr2
I have Intel original MB(D945GCNL) with Intel Core-2-duo & 2gb DDR2 ram & 2x160gb pata hdds. MB has pci express 1x & 16x slots and power supply from Corsair Builder Series CX430 PSU. What type of pci express graphics card(1x or 16x) should i use. Please give some product details with price if possible. I have no idea about this. Please help.

Best bang for your buck. Definitely get a PCI X16 card. quality depends on price. 50-100$ should get you a decent card. Are there any requirements you need to meet(for a game or program)? Even the worst cards will give you a 20% increase in speed over onboard graphics.

it depends on wut u want it for.
for all purposes i suggest an HD 5670 or GTS450, or gt 240

The use would dictate the purchase. You have to tell us what you intend to do with this system.

If you only use it for web then the cheapest pci card would do. If you run Photoshop or other video you need to step up to the $50-$100 or so.

Your system would not be worth putting more than that into it.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

if you wanna a ATI choose radeon hd 6870 but if you want nvidia choose gtx 560
