Hi,

I have a Compaq Presario computer that won't start. When I boot it up it counts the RAM (128MBs) Halts for 10 seconds and displays this message. 162 - System Options Not Set. I can't get in the bios nor anything else). I tried changing the cmos battery, no luck.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Is the jumper on the motherboard still set to clear the CMOS??????

To access compaq bios setup, start tapping F10 when the flashing cursor moves to the upper right corner of the screen.

Well F10 is the key. Try tapping it at different times during the initial screen display. If you can't get it going, go to the support page for your model and see if there are any downloads for diagnostic disks.

I run into the same problem today
my system is compaq proliant ml350 D02
my bos bought it recently and it came without operating system.
i updated the firmware to 05/30/2003
then i notice that complain about default server board setting and tell me to run setup
i set that but it keep coming up.
so i figure that the cmos battery must gone bad.
what i didnot know is, it has 2 battery. 1 for motherboard and 1 for the server feature board and i replaced the wrong one.

now when i boot it up, it says
162-System Options Not Set

i try to go to F10-setup
but i can't go in.
any idea?

You may need a diagnostic disk. Check the compaq page for your model.
