I wish to replace to 4mb of integrated video with 16 or 32 mb pci (no agp slot) video card. would 32mb see much performacne boost over 16mb in this system? 16mb is a bit less money. also, i a system this slow would 64 or 128 bit make a differance in this case? i want to upgrade the video card because i wish it to be capable of running older games (i.e. GTA 3, Test Drive 6, etc.). should i use a 32mb or 16mb card? 64-bit or 128-bit? 16mb is cheaper then 32mb obviously and the 128-bit cards go for more then their 64-bit counterparts.
Current specs:
Gateway G6-350
450mhz Pentium 2 (am going to attempt to overclock) (was originally 350mhz)
256mb PC100 RAM
13gb 7200rpm hard drive

Have you checked the requirements of the games that you want to play?
Sorry, I do not check for private messages

TD 6 minimum is 8mb, GTA 3 minumum is 16mb. i just thought that maybe more video memory would improve gaming responsivness if it exceeded the minimum...

Go for the 32MB, there should not be that big of price difference. It can help in other applications also.
You can actually get a 64MB card for around $30.

Hey Dragon,
I think back in those days, 64-bit was considered high performance & 32-bit was the standard. Hopefully you're not paying much for whatever you're getting...$10?

Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP2

64 MB, 64-bit, I'd say, for GTA3. And be prepared to overclock, too...it's hungrier than it claims.
Test Drive 6 would run very well under these conditions. Well, as well as it can...

If it was me i would get a used mobo with AGP slot and buy AGP card - much better than PCI. PCI is a slow interface. Depends on whether you can get cheap mobo from somewhere you can trust for it to be working.
I am in UK, I would expect to pay about £5 (about 8 us dollars) for such a mobo.
