Hi

Ive just bought a case which has a buil in 13 to 1 card reader. I have a K8V-X SE mobo and i cant find where to plug in the reader. It uses IEEE 1394 and the connector looks like it will fit onto one of the USB connections on the mobo.

Can this be done?

Do all mobo's have a connector for IEEE 1394?

Thanks for any help

Tim

No.

I checked your manual and I don't see a firewire header on your MOBO.

IEEE 1394 and USB connections are not interchangable. If you have no IEEE 1394 port on your motherboard then your are out of luck. You can install a PCI card with an IEEE 1394

IEEE 1394 ports are not as common as USB.

Thanks guys for your help.

I just got in a muddle and didnt think about what i was doing. I thought that the connector for the card reader was the 1394, but it was actually sharing an connector with the internal USB one. Everything is sorted now.

Tahnks again
