Comment:

Recently my Emachines 400idx just would not turn back on.
A friend suggested I replace the power supply, and upon installation and start up I came across the following:

105 COMOS SETTING WRONG
107 CMOS DISPLAY TYPE WRONG
PRESS F1 TO RUN SETUP
PRESS F2 TO LOAD FEFAULT VALUES AND CONTINUE

The problem is nothing more happens after pressing F1 or F2.

What is my nest step please?

What would Jimmy Buffett do?

Dont replace the battery just yet, first try reseting the bios manually by a jumper on the motherboard or if you cant find it take out the battery wait 2 minutes and replace it. That should put it back to default settings.

I have had the same problem on a Vectra VE machine bought from the auctions. I am not sure what type of motherboard it is.

WAIT...
105 COMOS SETTING WRONG
107 CMOS DISPLAY TYPE WRONG
PRESS F1 TO RUN SETUP
PRESS F2 TO LOAD FEFAULT VALUES AND CONTINUE

When I press either F1 or F2, it says "Enter CURRENT Password". It never asked for a password before, even if I was changing BIOS settings. I have looked for a jumper on the motherboard to reset it, but there isn't one. I have taken out the battery for over half an hour, without any result and I have tried putting in a new CMOS battery. Are there any other suggestions?
