I am building a Pentium 4 computer with a 3.4ghz P4 i will overclock. My board has 2 Sata ports and doesnt have raid features. I was considering a 74gb 10000rpm hdd or a 160gb 7200RPM hddd. Both Sata. I was wondering if for the grand theft auto games a 10000 rpm would give me any improvement in performance over the 7200 rpm?

Thanks

P3 866/256/133 socket 370
Asus CUV4XC
Geforce 2 MX 32mb
192mb PC133
6.4gb Segate HDD

I wouldn't think so since for the most part gaming is done within processor and ram, and most problems arise due to inadequate graphics card. Harddrive seek time would hardly be a limiting factor. and for the price versus storage capacity I'd go for the 7200 spin. If money is no object and the limited capacity of the drive doesn't bother you then go for the raptor.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

That's correct, the hard drive speed has a minimal effect on game playing. The graphics card is the thing to worry about.

How about if you have an inadequate amount of RAM? I know in my system when i take out a stick of RAM loading times on UT2004 skyrocket.
