just put a new mobo in box & i push start button and get 1 short beep about 5 seconds later. all fans (v-cards psu cpu) in all components work. get no video at all. monitor light remains amber and screen black.

is there a doctor in the house?

What are your system specs?

We need:

Your motherboard model
RAM type
PSU Brand and Wattage
Video Card type

Also make sure everything is seated properly inside the case. Make sure there are no loose screws underneath the motherboard that may short it.

One short beep normally means that your motherboard checked out OK. I would suspect a monitor problem. Can you try swapping the monitor?

you nailed it. tried another monitor....worked. switched back and pushed monitor power button.

it works!
