Comment:

My Creative X-Fi card just died on me. It never seemed to like my NF4 board--it would snap, crackle and pop whenever I had AeroGlass enabled.

I replaced it with an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude card. I can finally enable Aeroglass without running into sound problems! Yippity yay! :-)

However, my CPU now "idles" at 8%. It's not driver-related. Simply uninstalling the drivers without removing the card does not help. I can only get it to idle at 0% by removing the card. There seems to be some overhead at the hardware (PCI?) level.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes? I'm particularly interested in knowing if any Intel chipset users have this issue with their Auzen X-Fi cards.

If you installed some Auzentech software, try uninstalling it.

As I said in my first post, "uninstalling the drivers...does not help."

By drivers, I mean drivers as well as the extra software.
