As a beginner I've been given some "XP" games which don't want to run in my "Vista" pc. Can they and it be made compatible and if yes - how please?

Hi jam, thanks for reply but still no go. Apparently it can't find the cd/rom when I click on the shortcut to play the game. Tells me to reload and try again which I do but then same again. Yet it must have "found" it to be able to download all the files?

Edit added - sorry if this is the wrong way to do this!
I've since run a test prog for the cd/dvd player and its in good order apparently so any other "pearls of wisdom" are welcome.
