Problem:
Can't install my 6800 XT card...Symptoms:
System Hangs during installment, at the end of installment and it hangs just before the login screen after a succesfull driver installment. Tried the four latest drivers from 84.sumthin to 93.sumthin. And somtimes my OS identifies it as a 6800 GS card, wich is not correct. BIOS identifies it correctly as a 6800 XT.Actions taken:
Updated my BIOS to the latest (2.50) and the AGP Bus driver (2.50). Tried to turn off the AGP Fast write.Other Intel:
PSU is a 500+watts. With an exclusive power dongle for the agp card.cant think of anything more to write, just flame me or sumthing ill get the specs u want. :P
When things go wrong they usually come in threes... 1. The main problem. 2. The problem to find the error. 3. The minor problem that causes problem 1.

You have kind of an oddball board. I know it gets pretty decent reviews but you won't hear many people singing the praises of ULi. I'm guessing the AGP slot fueled your decision? Curious as to why you only have one stick of RAM...do you plan on doubling up in the future to take advantage of dual channel mode?
As for your video card problem, all you really need to do is install the card, boot into Windows, then install the drivers. The possible problems are improper driver installation (not following the "hints" on the nVidia page), or an inadequate power supply...just saying that you have a 500W unit means nothing. What brand is this PSU? How many amps are on the +12v rail(s)? How much did you pay for it? If you bought a $20 special or are using the PSU that came packaged with a $40 case, chances are good that the PSU is a piece of crap.
Any previous nVidia drivers need to be completely removed before installing the new one. And you should use a program such as "Driver Cleaner" to be sure ALL traces of the old driver(s) are wiped out.
You should be happy your XT is identified as a GS...the GS is a much better card! lol.

I don't know where you're coming up with 2.50 for the BIOS & chipset driver versions...ASRock has them both listed as v2.30. And if you check the ULi website, v2.20 is the latest chipset driver that they have available.

PSU Specs:
Hiper 530 Watts HPU-4M530-PU
+5v 2-34A
+12v 1 1-18A
+12v 2 1-17A
-12v 0-0.8A
+5vsb 0-2.5A
+3.3v 0.5-28AAbout the version of the BIOS youre correct, its 2.30. Was writing out of the top of my head... And yes Im planning for a second stick of memory. And about the MB, if i remember correctly it was at a fair price and supported AGP and my Athlon CPU. From Asrock i got a version 2.30 AGP bus driver for my MB. Im not sure what ULi is?

ULi is the manufacturer of the chipset used on your board. The "major" players (other than Intel) are ATI, nVidia, SiS, & VIA. ULi chips were mostly used on "value" boards, and ASRock is Asus' value division. Actually, ULi was just starting to produce some decent performing chips when they bought out by nVidia (about a year ago). Anyhow, that's a little background for you....
Your PSU looks pretty good so unless it's defective, I doubt it's the problem. Possibly a driver installation issue or a BIOS setting? Here's a link to the driver hints:

Here's a link to a direct download of Driver Cleaner Pro v1.5:

Okey, Ive updated everything, ULi drivers, BIOS drivers, AGP Bus drivers, AGP card drivers, winxp is up to date and my PSU is okay. Cleaned with Driver Cleaner. Not working yet... :/
So what about BIOS settings??

OMG its wooooorking!!! Changed a setting called AGP deep fifo from auto to enebled, in bios. ive spent hours upon hours and a silly little problem is the cause!! well on the bright side all my hardware n drivers are up to date! thanks alot for the support anyway! cya!
