for xbox you need xbox live to play online, and yes it works on a router, same goes for ps2, i have xbox, ps2, GC, & pc all hooked up to the same router and they all work great, but i dont have any outgoing traffic blocked, only incoming.

well you can use Xbconnect if you dont wanna pay for xbox live. But most people only play halo on there. Yes Halo! www.xbconnect.com
