Hi guys!

I want to buy a new Graphics Card and I have two cards on my mind...

1. Gainward BLISS 7800GS Golden Sample 512MB
2. Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB

These two cards have AGP interface.

Which one do you think is best?

XFX nVidia here in Greece costs 290euros and Sapphire ATI X1950 Pro costs 220euros.

Thank you in advance!

PS : I "googled" those cards and saw that ATI outperforms the nVidia. But these are site reviews and I don't trust them so much (cause of $$$ )..

Thank you!

Digital Family.

The X1950Pro is a better card. If it costs less, this is a no brainer.

However, make sure your system is fast enough to feed the X1950Pro. The vast majority of AGP systems out there will severely bottleneck that card.

Thank you for your help heropsycho2177!

I am almost sure that X1950 Pro will be my next (and last AGP I think) graphics card.. although I am a nVidia fan...! ;)

But I think ATI did a good work on this card..

X1950 is a great card but some users have problem with the driver regarding the brightness. Anyway i think it was solved right now. If its not then download the "ATi Tools" and set your brightness preferences.

While I was doing my "research" I found that Gecube has another version of this product.

GeCube ATI X1950XT "X" Series 256MB.

Will it be faster than Sapphire's X1950 Pro ??? It has better timings (GPU & Memory Clocks) but has 256MB, Sapphire X1950 Pro has 512MB.

Anyone?

Are you sure that's in AGP anyway?

Really depends on the price. No doubt in my mind though that your system would bottleneck an X1950XT.

Faster CPU that is, but i doubt that cause you're limited by your mobo. Imagine this:

CPU is like a Racing Car Driver.
3DCard is like the Race Car.

Even you get a good car but not a great driver you fully utilize its potential. When you get the best driver for the race car than you will be unstoppable. You already have 3GB RAM so i think that's more than enough.

When choosing a 3Dcard, more card VRAM is better cause the card is more efficient when processing larger textures. Still it depends on the type of VRAM whether its DD2,DDR3 or DDR4.

I know most people are GOING to disagree with me. BUT, I've been useing ATI Radeon X1300 XGE 512MB DDR2 Crossfire (Two Card in one system) for quite some time now. I am abil to run ANY game I own EX: DooM 3, Half Life 2. On the HIGHEST of HIGH settings. These cards come with ATIs' Catalyst Control Center (CCC) for use with two cards at once and all of your other settings. I got my cards for under $100 online. I used CLGG3 to clock them both at once and here are the specs.

750MHz DUAL GPUs'
1024MB DDR2 mem
1080P HDTV Ready
Dual DVIs' for EACH card (support for 4 monitors)
Pixel Shader 3.0
Direct X 10
And a bunch of other options the list goes on forever.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 1MB L2 per core w/HT
2GB Dual Channel ECC capable 333MHZ-800MHz
320GB SATA 7,200RPM
10/100/1000 Gigabit Networking
7.1 surround sound
ATI XGE X1300 512MB VC 600MH

So can a lot of cards.

My 9800 XT did that, too, and I upgraded from that a long time ago.

And no, an X1300 is NOT a DX10 card.

P.S. What does this have to do with an AGP solution?

Not unless it's significantly cheaper than the X1950XT AGP, which should be faster.

hey is my pc capable of running the X1950PRO AGP

Motherboard: Gigabyte 8IPE1000 AGP8X(Intel 865PE)
CPU: 2.8GHZ P4 HT 1MBCache
RAM: 2x256MB 400Mhz
HDD: 80GB Seagate SATA 8MBCache 7200rpm
External HDD: 250GB Seagate SATA2 16MBCache 7200rpm
Power Supply: 400Watts
Sound: Onboard Audio
Current Video Card: GAINWARD GEFORCE FX5200 128MB (yea... i know hopeless)

because here in Australia the prices are

GEFORCE 7600GT 256MB AGP = $200
GEFORCE 7800GS 256MB AGP = $411
RADEON X1950PRO 512MB AGP = $407

And from what ive researched... their performance gets better as you go down the list

Here in Greece the price of a XFX nVidia 7800GS AGP 256MB is 296 euros (that is 397 American dollars) which I bought it...BUT ATI X1950PRO 512MB is way cheaper! on www.e-shop.gr is 214,85 euros (that is 289 US Dollars) !!!! wow...! Big difference!...

Oh, and the GeCube X1950XT 256MB AGP costs 249 euros (that is 335 US dollars)...

I think I will no longer wait 7950GT to come up, instead I will buy myself a nice X1950XT .. and come back to ATI since I had a 9800XT which I loved back then...
