my uncle is gonna get a new video card for his son. he said money is not the problem. i saw the most expensive card-the x1800XT $599. but it seems geforce 7800GTX is good, too, and it only costs $450. both of them are PCI-e 16x. which one would be the good choice? well, to me, they both are good to me. at least is 1000 times better than my ATI 128.

It's a generous notion from your uncle, but he is wasting his money to spend more than $350 on a graphics card. Generally, I tell folks that $200 should be your upper limit. But in this case, if he wants top end available, he should get the BFG GeForce 7800 GT OC 128mb PCIe for $319 at CompUSA between now and Saturday.

7800GT is plenty fast.

But between those two cards listed, the 7800GTX is the faster card.

Yea the 7800GTX is better if u research a bit on google u can see that the 7800GTX outperforms the x1800XT in most games. But unless ur uncles son is really an avid fan of games i wouldnt recommend such a pricey buy. a graphics card that high and mighty can easily be bottlenecked by a weak PC set up. only high-end pcs should have a card that powerful.

go for the 7800gt man! the overclocked evga, bfg, or xfx are all nice. It's a helluva card and it will run every single game out there nicely too. And it's not that expensive. The gtx or the 1800xt are just not worth it.
