Win16 Subsystem error installing legacy games

June 30, 2009 at 13:33:35
Specs: Windows XP SP3
I have been having a problem installing "Journeyman Project Turbo", it's an old game from the early 90's and used to play it on my Old Windows 95 years ago. I recently got a copy and during installation I would get the message. "the request to end the selected 16 bit task has timed out. The Win 16 Subsystem may be unstable..."
Nothing I tried worked. I even tried Compatibility mode and all the available options associated with it.
I really want to play this game again and I have no access to another old system (namely 95).

You can't play old games with new hardware in new PCs. I found this out trying to install an old game of my daughters and it simply won't do it because I can't get access to 16 bit colour anymore. That was my problem and the PC crashed during attempted installation. This is probably your problem as new hardware/programs are conflicting with the older game.

Thanks for the reply.
I just noticed that, I would have tried running it on my vista but I kinda knew the new hardware and software wouldn't make it work. And so I decided to learn how to install and use Virtual PC.
I still had my old windows 2000 and 98 discs and installed 98 in virtual PC and right now enjoying my game perfectly on my 64bit Vista.
So I guess problems solved? hehe
