I have a problem....my router( Netgear Router WGR614v9) will not allow me to join other's games or me to join theirs.I run Windows Vista Home Basic. Such games are Age of Empires 2 the conquerors, Command and Conquer, and others. I have plugged my laptop into the modem, bypassing the router and it did work so i know it is not my cpu. i can connect to games using servers for that game such as generals online but AoE does not have one anymore and servers such as Gamespy and IGZones do not work either. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your router should have allowable settings available through your broadband supplier. Contact them and tell them which servers you want to be able to access, or call the game people and they should be able to tell you which settings to change based on your broadband supplier. I know that I had to do the same thing with my Eircom router with regard to allowing me to access XBox Live.

well i will call them but i have gone through all steps in portforward.com, i have made my system a DMZ, i have shutdown all firewalls in cpu, many securities on the router as well...thanks i will call

i called the ISP and they directed me to the router's tech support which took me through the steps needed....thanks alot for the great tip!!!!!!!!!
