Will my system run The Sims 2?

I think I am going to get The Sims 2 for Christmas and I would really like to be able to run it smoothly. Can my system run it? Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 2200+ 1.8GHz 512MB RAM GeForce 5900XT Windows XP

Oh, and by the way, I did check the system requirements online but those are not always so reliable, which is why I am asking thsi question

I would say yes it will run, however you will have to have the graphical details and resolution a bit lower than normal (I.E 800x600 etc)--->as your Athlon 2200 might run the game quite slow, your RAM's fine

it all depends what Geforce 5900Xt u have. my m8 has a XFX 128mb Geforce FX5900XT and hes runs soo fast it unbelievable.

As for the CPU 2200+ is it Barton or Thoroughbread? I have a 2200_ Thoroughbread and i can run the recent games on full no problem. best thig is to disable all unwanted programs running in the background.
