Wierd HL2 Problem

I just got HL2, its awesome. I have a RADEON 9800. I am experiencing a wierd texture problem in the game though. It appears on different textures every time, but when it does, there are iwerd discolorations, and what look to be like flashing squares and such which are multicolored. SOmeitmes its on the SMG, sometimes on sewage grates, it will fix if I change the resoulation, but shows up ona different texture later. Any help would be appreciated.
