OK...So im going to buy a new Gaming rig. I have build all my rigs my self, but im low in time these days. So im going with Alienware.com
I know, I know... im gonna pay way more than i need to, but money isnt an issue at the moment. I just want something that will work and work hard!
With that said, i have narrowed my choises down to two. I'll let you guys know why i want said system, also I'll be asking opinions. also most of their computers are the same, but there are some diffrences.
1st system

Area-51® 7500
Now i want this system because of the disgusting fast memory. 667MHz! i like the way that sounds a lot.
My question is, wich CPU would YOU go with ?
1.ntel® Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition 840 w/ HT and Dual Core Technology 3.2GHz 800MHz FSBor...
2.Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 670 w/ HT Technology 3.8GHz 800MHz FSB 2MB CacheI like the dual core cause.... well its DUAL!
It would be nice to divide work load between processors.but, the idea of the 3.8 w/ 2mb cache sounds nasty fast!
im torn wich would you choose ?
as for system #2..

Auroraâ„¢ ALXi like this system for the FX-57. Enough said ! but the memory is a turn off.
So, do i go with the 7500: ok cpu- fast memory (if so wich processor)
or the aurora w/ NICE cpu and ok memory ?thanks fellers!

fx 57. if ur a gamer, go with that. and you could build that system for less than half the price. and get a geforce 7800.
p4 3.0ghz @ 222X15=3330mhz
512mb pc3200 dual channel @222mhz
80gb wd hdd/40gb seagate when on linux
8x agp geforce 6200 @ 530/585can't unlock extra pipes. plz help if you can

Dual core doesn't do much for gaming.
Athlon 64's are proven the clear winner in gaming benchmarks. You can put the fastest memory out there in a p4 system, and who has the better memory throughput, lowest latency, etc.? Yes, that would be AMD.
Answer is pretty clear.
"Pat Buchanan, Bob Novak, and G. Gordon Liddy don't like Mark Felt. Mark Felt is truly a great man."

I agree with heropsycho...Athlon 64 is definitely the way to go. But hey, if you wanna pay $2000+ for an inferior gaming system, it's your money.
Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @ 8.5 x 200MHz
768MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro

if you dont want an AMD, the better of the two intel processors ofr gaming it the 3.8 with 2mb cache. dual core doesn't do much for it, as they ^^^ already said. this is what i would use as i dont trust AMDs. i have had personal experience and found them to be unreliable. regards, dragon
Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours.
R. Bach

I've built AMD systems since the K5 days. When a system has been unreliable, I have NEVER seen it because of the AMD CPU. It's usually a problem with the motherboard. Choose a good motherboard with a good chipset (Nvidia or VIA), and you won't have problems.
