I have had a Geforce 2 MX in my comp with the Forceware 56.72 from nvidia.com and i just got me a GeForce FX5200 and i put it in and for some reason it wont work right. Games dont run right and when i scrolled down in windows (like webpages) it was laggy and when i went to display properties it dont show its a FX 5200 it just say default monitor but when i had my geforce 2 in it showed the monitor and the card. Do anybody know how i can get my fx 5200 running right?

unistall it then reinstall it. or just right the display drivers then uninstall and uninstall it then when you go back right what ever display adapter that is there and click update driver pick the second one install from listand browse and find the driver you download from nvidia and in tsall it that way.

did you restart your pc after installing the Nvidia Driver?

If you don't care about the profiles etc., try uninstalling the drivers and after you do that, delete the nVidia folder or use a Driver Cleaner. Then reboot, and re-install the drivers.

Did it then everytime i ran a game it froze and when i just let the cop run after about 5 misn the screen goes into standby by it self

1 uninstall everythin [all the drivers + the geforce 2(use onboard gfx card if u have) and all the nvidia drivers] and take out the 5200
2 make sure the comps workin now and theres no other vid cards or drivers
3 next put in the 5200 and make sure put it in all the way
4 then install the latest driver and restart
5 in device manager make sure the vid card comes up as "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200" or something like that

a month late but i just got the same card and had the same problems until i went back to the 44.03 nvidia drivers, go to the nvidia website and go to the driver archives and get these they work much better than the new ones.
