why dont my windows XP open any games

Specs: dont know
I had window 8 on my comp. So i took my comp in to wipe my comp and install window XP. But since i got my comp back i can download a game but it just wont open it

Are you Saving the download as a file?. If not try that and double click the saved file to install. That will tell us where it is going wrong, if it does.

Otherwise go to "Control Panel > Folder Options > View" and remove the check mark in "Hide extensions for known file types". After that let us know the name of the downloaded file including it's extension (probably .exe). Whether you leave file extensions visible is up to you but I think it is a good thing.

What game is it and where did you download it from. It may be that it is only meant to run on a newer operating system such as Windows 7 or 8 and not XP.

Putting "dont know" for the specs isn't very helpful. Why did you downgrade the OS from Win8 to WinXP? Who did the installation? Are all the drivers up to date, especially the motherboard chipset & graphics?
