So ive had this Gateway laptop for about a yr now and i used to be able to play flawlessly video games like max payne 2, diablo 2,star wars galaxies, and counter strike. but recently ive been trying to play games again like WoW and Diablo 2, but they run really choppy at times and then perfectly normal and fluid. i upgraded my Ati Mobility M6 driver to The Omega drivers , and recently rolled back to see if the drivers were the problem , but apparently it not? i think? but i have rid my computer of all the spyware, adware etc. ive ran scan disc, and defragged many of times, and the games are still doin the fluid to choppy thing :P and theres NO reason why Diablo 2 should be playing like this :P because it only requires 233mhz and ive got 2.6Ghz :P any help will be great.

hmmm

When it runs choppy, check the running processes and look at what is using the most memory and cpu. If you can, close it. Hope this helps.

Did you have this problem before you updated to the Omega drivers? The fact that you were able to "roll back" tells me that they weren't installed correctly. The old drivers should have been uninstalled before the new drivers went in...

i didnt roll back , i unistalled the omega and reinstalled the ones that game with the computer. and i noticed when it gets all choppy is when the cpu usage blasts off to 100% from like 30-40% and its the game which is doing it if i can remember. so thats why to me i think it is the driver, i'll try to uninstall the old ones to see what happens and update you guys.

Hey, in the original post you wrote that you "recently rolled back to see if the drivers were the problem". Rolling back & uninstalling/reinstalling are 2 different things...that's why I questioned it. Obviously if it was working OK before the update & then choppy afterwards, the drivers are most likely to blame.

the thing is it worked fine after i got the omega. i think it may be some malfunction or some sort? the CPU usage like rockets high, unless its some virus that cant be detected, but i ran ever virus and adware scan possible

I have the same EXACT problem...this has been happening to me for almost 2 years now. Because of this, I am unable to play Diablo 2, Starcraft, or Warcraft because ill be playing it, and it runs fine, then it runs choppy for about 30 seconds, then goes back to normal, and keeps repeating this process. I have never been able to find a solution. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.
