I have a GeForce 3Ti 200 AGP graphics card with 64mb ram. My system has a 250w psu. I want to upgrade to a newer and faster graphics card without having to upgrade the psu if possible. What do you suggest? I had an ATI X700 or 6600GT in mind but heard that you need a PSU greater than 300/350w.

Many of the newer AGP cards must be plugged into the power supply...that's why a bigger/better PSU is recommended. If your 250W unit is a good one, you *may* be able to pull it off. Check the label on the PSU to see how many amps are on the +12v rail...if there's 15-16A or more, it *should* work. If you don't wanna take the chance, get something a little less powerful. The Radeon 9600XT should work well for you

Also keep in mind with your CPU, there's no reason to get any video card as powerful as an X700 or 6600GT unless you plan on upgrading your CPU very soon. Even the 9600XT is overkill.
Honestly, you're best off doing the CPU and video card at the same time, so you can move to PCI-e.

I believe he meant to say, "CPU and motherboard at the same time".
I probably should have mentioned that the X700 & 6600GT are overkill for your system.

Just asking but would a GeForce 7800 graphics card work on a Sony VAIO PCV-RX403N with 256 RAM
and if not which is the best graphics card for me?
Thanks
