Subject: Which CS version to play online?OS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: AMD 64/3000+/512 DDR |
Comment: Hi, Yesterday I tried Counter Strike on Internet after almost 2 Years. When I tried playing, it say the the "Executable is Out-of-date". So when it searches for an Update, it says the Half-Life 1.1.1.0 is the latest and there is no new updates available! Currently I am already having Half-Life version 1.1.1.0 and Counter Strike 1.5. Is this the latest version. If so why am I not able to play? I read something about Counter Strike-Condition Zero available on Steam. Is this required to play CS? Please help me.... Sam Samuel Roshan

Reply: (edit)All updates/patches for Value's games are downloaded/installed automatically through Steam. If you dont already have it, get it here. http://www.steampowered.com/?area=getsteamnow Browse their site if you have any questions. Also, if you ever intent to purchase Half-life2, steam (& internet access) will be required in order to decrypt the Game files. -STUPID QUOTE OF THE DAY-"Smoking kills. Reply: (edit)all you need to do is install the http://www.steampowered.com/?area=getsteamnow From there, you will create a steam account. Once logged into the account, you will input your cd key into the steam network, so it will register you accordingly. After you have registered the games with a legit cd key, you will be able access the games. Steam will then let you play the game, and let's you download CS 1.6 through their network. CS 1.6 is completely different then CS 1.5, in a complete revised way, so having CS 1.5 installed or not wont do anything. It's not really upgrading from 1.5 to 1.6, but rather letting you download and play a completely different game. Steam has transformed the games into a more user-friendly interface. You dont need to buy a new game, I have been able to use my ancient half life cd key and effectively register on steam to play CS 1.6
