How about the Geforce 6600GT or plain vanilla 6800?

Agreed, but you may want to stick with ATI if you're obsessed with Half Life 2. Nvidia cards at that price range however are better cards currently overall.

I can not agree more with the above, especially hero's statement regarding Half-Life 2. I switched from a 9800se(unlocked all 8 pipes)to a 6800 (unlocked all 16 pipe lines) and I get the same preformance (same res, and detail level). But I do have to admit HL2 does looks noticeably better with my 6800 as opposed to 9800se, not significantly, but noticeably.

In regards to all other games concerning prefromance the 6800 (around $160-$220) beats all last gen cards HAnd down, 3 to 4 times faster from my observations.

Anyway, the x700 line of cards are not available in AGP fromat, sorry :-(

I would strongly go with jam's advice here, the 6800 over the 6600gt any day. the 6800 comes stock with 12 pipes thats four more then the 6600gt, plus there is always the chance to unlock the 4 locked ones! So as far as preformance with your budget these cards provide the best bang foy your buck!

Yes they are, I have the X700Pro AGP

BTW undercoverbrother23, are you planning on using the card in another system or is it for your HP rig, if it is, you better start rethinking your preferences in regards to the cards you are looking at.

Good point Sabertooth. I notice that the CPU isn't mentioned, so it's possible a higher end card may be bottlenecked...& the make/model of his current card isn't mentioned either. If this is for an HP, it's possible that it even doesn't have an AGP slot.

There is no such thing as a X700 Pro AGP, and wherever you saw it, it must be a typo. The X in X700 (or any other number) is ATi's brand for their PCI-Express line of video cards (hence the X for Xpress). All 9000 line cards (9800, 9600, etc) are AGP, but no, there is no such thing as a X700 AGP.

The X stands for 10, not PCI-e. There are many AGP cards out there that are Radeon X series.

Before you say that's a typo, look at the pics.

I don't know if there are AGP X700's out there though...
