Jeez dude, will you just pick a card & get it over with already? LOL! You've been asking about different cards for several days! The 6600GT is the better card of the 2 mentioned.

Your current system is weak though...1.7GHz P4, PC2100 RAM & a GF4 MX440 64MB card, correct?

Just about any 128MB/128-bit/DX9 card will be a huge improvement over the MX440. Personally, I wouldn't throw a $200 video card into a system that's barely worth $200. Set your sites a little lower...maybe something closer to $100, or you could even go for a budget card like the Radeon 9550 128MB:

Hi, i also had a MX440 128mb before i got this new system with a 6600GT 128mb. The 6600GT is a good card for it's price. It will handle today's game very well, you should be able to find it under $300 canadian. But if the R9800 pro with 256mb is somewhat cheaper..you might consider that with the system you are using. It's not "that" powerful enough for both of the cards you mention, and both card is quite the same performance if not by much..why not get the 256mb just be sure if you won't upgrade your system in the couple year.

The way the graphics market is changing right now, investing big bucks in an AGP card for an aging system is like throwing your money away. The card won't be worth much in 2 yrs because PCI-X will have taken over the market. Plus I bet E-2k5 will wanna build or buy a new system in less than 2 years anyway.

Take my advice...save your money for the "big upgrade". In the meantime, get a mid range card for about $100 (or less) that'll hold you over for a while.

I agree with Jam. Unless you're planning a new motherboard upgrade very soon, and won't move to PCI-X then, there's not a whole lot of sense in spending big bucks on a gfx card with your setup if Jam is right on your specs. I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a video card if that's the case.

I've been pushing the Radeon 9550 128MB/128-bit card as the best thing going in budget cards right now. Newegg has a several for under $80 shipped. Have a look at this budget card comparison:

If you're gonna buy or build a new system, I would think you'd go with PCI-X, not AGP
