You're willing to spend $500+ for a video card but wanna save money on the CPU?

ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

If you're gonna spend $250 on 3500, Spend $290 on 3700. It's got more cache, so you'll actually see a difference between the 3200 and the 3700.

Do NOT listen to heropsych! The 3700+ he recommends is only for Socket 754 mobos and I'm assuming you have a Socket 939 since you're after the 3500+.
(I really don't see what's wrong with your 3200+...)
Your 3500+ won't bottleneck your performance unless you're using two 7800 GTXs in SLI... then your CPU becomes the limiting factor. It doesn't really matter though because other bottlenecks (optical, HDD, mem) will affect you much more noticeably than CPU against super-videocards like the 7800.
If you're spending that much money on a graphics card, you better make sure you have a SLI mobo bc the true potential from nVidia cards is SLI, and you waste a lot of upgradability if you don't have potential SLI.
But anyway your 3500+ should be fine, but if you have money to burn (sounds like you do) move on up to a 3800+ or even the FX line.
Remember, there's no such thing as futureproof.
