hello.
i just recently installed an ASUS FX5200 vid card into my cpu.
when i play CS1.6 (not source) i get this weird problem.
all the graphics are fine and i get a nice high fps, but its like my keyboard and mouse locks up. (ie. i move in one direction and continue to move in that direction even though i release the key) its like some sort of choke (not lag, i have a really low ping)
this only happens when i play in an online server with other people. i ran around in a private server and got no problems.
i tried the drivers from cd and also from nvidia.com, same problem. i just recently formatted my cpu, was using win98 before but heard u need winXP to get the most out of video card.
thanks for any help or comments.

Umm it sounds like a lag to me. On the server that you play on. Either A in the games you play someone is on a 16 K modem.. Or B your on a 16 K modem. Lol or 56.. Same thing now a days..

Yeah, sounds like an internet connection speed issue rather than a video card or CPU thing. are you on dial up, cable, or DSL? If cable, try playing the game early in the morning, or some time when other people in your neighborhood wouldn't be using the internet. See if the problem gets better. If so, you'll know it's the connection speed.

... Just to point out to the bullies, CPU to people not smart with computers means the BOX containing all the bits, and you knew that and should'nt abuse his/her way of discribing the way s/he sees things.

Anyway. I once had a strange lag issue with CS1.6 where all of a sudden i would go back a few seconds, or all my weapons would re-arm as i was on the move. In the end i tracked it down to the iPOD and iTunes Services that were running.

If you have ever installed QuickTime/iPOD Drivers/iTunes then this could be a source of an issue, try stopping services and/or useing TaskManager to kill them.

Tom
