Combat Flight Simulator

Crimson Skies
are only a few for prop driven WWII era and earlier sims.
Modern sims like FA18a from Jane's and a whole slew of similar are a dime a dozen and most fllight sims are available on the discount racks at about any retailer.
Not many gamers have a joystick on the desk in 2004.

IL2 Sturmovik is quite good, but its a WWII propeller flight sim.

Lock On Modern Air Combat is the best of the best out now.
It's also a monster on what it requires to run well. With my Athlon 2.4GHz overclocked rig, 1 GB RAM, and a 9800 modified to XT, I have to dial quite a bit of gfx options down. You don't need all the gfx options though.
The game though is simply unreal for its realism. If you want a true modern combat flight simulation, it's the game to get.
For WW2, IL-2 Forgotten Battles would be a better bet. Go ahead and get the gold pack with all the extra planes with the included expansion. $40. Also much less demanding of a system to run it.
