I don't know THAT much about computers, but I know some. (Vetry Little ;| )

I just bought the Warcraft battlechest and installed it, it installed perfectly. But when I tried to load it up to play, it seemed to be loading when A message popped up it said:DirectX 8.1 or newer could not be Initiallized. Make sure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer and that your display drivers are current. To install DirectX 8.1 or newer look under the Options tab on the Warcraft 3 Install CD.

I did look for DirectX on the CD, it said I already have DirectX 8.1 or newer. So I went top a site which told me how to check my display drivers. Here is what it says:

Main Driver: vga.dll
Version 5.01.2006.0000 (English)
Date: 8/29/2002 07:00:00
WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Mini VDD: vga.sys
VDD: n/a
DDI Version: Unknown

Can any1 solve my quite puzzling and aggrivating problem? Plz? :)

If you have XP, you can install DirectX 9.

If you have Win 98, DirectX 8 is as far as you can go.

Untrue - DirectX 9.0c can be readily installed on Win98

type in "DxDiag" into the "Run..." box on your start menu, that should tell you all you need to know
