ok i know a very limited amount about the inner workings of computers (so be patient with me)if you need any more information to help ill do my best.

i have just tryed running halflife 2 for the first time and it says 'your video hardware does not meet the minimum requirements' and goes on to say 'i should update my video drivers to the latest version avaliable from your driver vendor,

now i understand that means that i need to get something (i assume video drivers) any body give me any advice on what i have to do and how much it will cost me (i am a student so dont have money to burn)

Drivers are free, but we have to know what video card you have so we can point you in the right direction to get them. However, if your video card "does not meet the minimum requirements", drivers aren't gonna help...you'll need a new card

Well, first things first. We need to know if you even have a video card or if it is intergraded onto your motherboard, do you Know? Give us some info about your card, Click Start>Run, type "dxdiag". Click on the tab the reads "Display". Now Post what it reads in the upper right corner. Post the Name, Manufacture, Chip-type, and total Video card memory. Then we will go from there. Also post what DirectX version your using you can find it on the system tab.

thanks, i know its alot to type, and it doesn't help when they dont allow copy & paste, lol. O.k I hope u are ready for this, your IGP (intergraded graphics processor) is the colprit. And just by googling your chipset I see alot of people having proplems playing games as well. I think its because (not sure), but your IGP might lack video acceleration, which is requried to play most games. Do you have an asus motherboard? if you do then your drivers you need are here

http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7V8X-MX&Type=Drivers

If you dont know then download this cool utility that i use everyday, cause i'm a nerd, thats called CPu-Z, download here

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

once we know who makes your motherboard we can figure out were to get your drivers.
