I'm getting a new video card so i can play Spore, and will the PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI Graphics Card work? Thanks.

Standard PCI runs at only 33MHz. AGP runs at 66MHz, PCI-express runs at 100MHz...obviously PCI is the slowest of the 3. So you'll be running a weak card on a slow bus. Have a look at the following chart to see how the 8400GS ranks (scroll to the bottom of the list): http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/... The 8400GS in that chart is a PCI-express card. The performance of a standard PCI card will be even lower.

That's if you are willing to spend 90 dollars on it. It's better then the 8400GS and it does have 128bit video memory on top of a large 1gb GDDR2 ram, but your card will greatly bottleneck before it will ever reach 1gb of ram resources. So that's more of a slaes pitch then anything else. The good news is Spore will play ok on it. So now the question, is it worth the 90 dollars?
