Hi. There are a lot of video cards you can choose from. For around $200, you can get a Geforce FX 5700 Ultra or Radeon 9600XT and for around $500 you can get a Geforce FX 5950 Ultra or Radeon 9800XT.

I looked up the specs for that mobo though, EsP_ , and I don't think it has an AGP slot, which limits things somewhat.

I think you can buy the 5700 and 9600 in PCI flavour, but certainly not the top-end cards.

no problem KK.

you'd definitely be able to get a GF2 and, according to a few google searches, even the 9600 is available in PCI version. Even as an nVidia boy, I would have to say the 9600 is the best card around for the money.

That said, I believe PCI cards cost a bit more simply because there isn't the same demand for them. Your best bet is to shop around on ebay mate.

KingKillah, Geforce 2 is a o.k video card but for around $75 you can get a FX 5200 for PCI.

By the way, im a Nvidia Boy I have the FX 5700 Ultra and its awesome. I have tried 9600xt and i think the Geforce has higher performance.

If your motherboard at least has AGP 4x, you should be able to play games at great performance. AGP 4x and AGP 8x don't make much of a difference, so don't worry about getting a new motherboard.

the processor though, if its like a celeron or a pentium 3, you might want to upgrade to a p4.

Hey KingKillah,

I also looked up that mobo like Dannyboy and it does'nt look like theres an AGP slot.It said you have 3 pci slots. But it dont hurt to check inside your case,AGP slots are brownish color on most mobo's except for a few modern newer boards with fancy glowing colors. The slot will be the top slot and it's about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long.

If you dont see one of these then your limited to PCI which is not always a bad thing.I dont think they make a "PCI 9600XT" but i think you can get a regular PCI ATI 9600 or the PCI NVIDIA FX 5200 like Dannyboy and EsP mentioned.

Theres also the ATI Radeon PCI 9100 that is a pretty good performer from what i hear around here from other posters that have them and some websites that reviewed them."Almost" having the performance of the older radeon 8500 vid. cards, but it might be hard to find one of these. So I'd say the PCI 5200 would be your best bet.Thats probably the only PCI cards Bestbuy will have anyway. Also make sure you install the new PCI vid.card in the top PCI slot in that its closest to the chipset, and disable onboard graphics.

Good Luck,macdaddy
