Im looking to upgrade my old but trustworthy geforce 4 ti 4400 to be able to play battlefield 2 and doom 3 well. I have narrowed it down to 6600 GT, 6800LE, 6800 Plain. Of course its common sense that 6800 is better than the LE version but how does it compare to the 6600 GT, which one of these is the best. Ill provide the links
6800 LE

Dude, you only have an 1800+ CPU & 512MB PC133 RAM. Those are WAY too much card for your system. Either set your sights a little lower or upgrade your board, CPU, RAM, & PSU...THEN buy a decent video card.

I'm not suggesting anything but I've seen that the 6600GT does admirably compared to the plain 6800 in benchmarks. The clock speeds on the 6600GT is 500/900 128bit 8 pixel pipes. The 6800 is 325/700 256bit 12 pixel pipes. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/index.html
Just use this as a reference. There are also benchmarks in that article. I don't recommend you get a high-end card unless you have a system to utilize it so go for the lower-end ones unless you are planning to do some PC renovation.

Build-in-Progress:
NZXT Nemesis Elite
Athlon 64 3200
Abit An8
OCZ EL PE Rev2 DDR400
X800PRO

I upgraded from a 9800 Pro to a 6600GT. No comparison. 6600GT wins by a landslide, and it's not much more money, either!

Truth be told in the end it comes down to performance not preferred company ;-) The 6600GT is the way to go.
