Most likely your lag problems are coming from the onboard video but if u are going to upgrade by buying a video card, make sure your mobo has an AGP sot. If you do not have an AGP slot then you will be forced to go with a PCI video card. PCI video cards in my opinion are junk and probably wont offer any more performance than your onboard video.

Celeron is not the greatest for gaming but it will work OK I guess. You definatelt need more RAM. You need at least 512 megs to be able to run games and XP fairly comfortably. Some of the newer games will prolly still be choppy. You will have to set all your video settings in the game to the minimum or default.
A new video card will help, but you are still gonna need to upgrade the RAM at the same time. 512 mb of RAM would be the bare minumum and 1 gig of RAM would be optimum. Also you may want to check if the Motherboard will support faster RAM. Say, PC3200 at 400 mhz would be good. When picking out a video card. First make sure you have an AGP slot on your motherboard. Second pay particular attention to the RAM speed and GPU speed of the video card. The RAM speed is typically more important than the GPU speed on the video card. It would be nice to get the max you can afford so long as you have a power supply the supports it, and the AGP slot supports it. You have 1.5 volt slots and 3.0 volt slots. Make sure you get the right kind of card for your slot.

You may want to do some shopping around on www.newegg.com
they list the details specs of their products. It's very helpful in making decisions.

you may want to use "unknown device identifier" to dicover the specs of your hardware if you don't have all the info in your documentation.
Google a search for it.
