Video Card and game lag HELP!

I have a voodoo3 from 3dfx and i have cable when i go into a game i lag i dont know why my ping boost badly. Can it be because i got a cheap video card or wat? its a 16 mb voodoo3 from 3dfx I didnt used to lag it just started i dont really know whats wrong,,

What are the other specs for your computer? Processor? RAM?
What games are you trying to play? That card is ~old~ but it should play any game of the same vintage. It will *not* play new high-end games.

Yes, your specs would help. But, 16MB is pretty old. The newer ones are like 64MB. You should get a better video card. If it is lag, then you will need to explain what "my ping boost badly" means, because I'm confusalated.

What is your internet connection?(DSL,Dial-Up,Cable). have you tried changing your nic/modem card? iF This problem occured recently, you may have viruses/spywares/trojans.

ok i have a 1.8 pentium 4 processor windows xp i have cable. It lags when i go into a game it says on game info that ping is 20 and when i go into it its like 40 but when i am shooting and stuff it boosts to like 250 and then goes down and i cant aim. It berly started doing it it was fine before no lagg or anything. I am checking for viruses now.
