Okay please assume I'm stupid and have no idea about computers. I just got Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban and it say I don't have the required hardware. Apparetnly I need a chipset. NVIDIA GeForce2 or greater, ATI Radeon or Matrox Parhelia. Okay, my question is, what should I get, how do I know, well, basically everything. I can only support up to 512 mb of ram will what I get be included in my tam space? Also keep in mind that I completely poor and need the cheapest thing I can get even used. Can someone give me a suggestion? I am sooo lost :)
Thanks!

Go for a Radeon 9600 XT, or even a 9600 Pro if you're really pressed for cash. You can get a 128MB card for under $100. Video RAM doesn't count in the system RAM count, so don't worry about that.

I don't understand your problem about system RAM... do you have 512 MB, or can your motherboard support only 512MB and no more? If you're not sure look in your motherboard manual, it should say somewhere near the beginning.

But about your card problem, look up anything higher than a Radeon 9600 Pro (preferrably higher if you can spare the clams).

I would get a Radeon 9550 considering your CPU is only a Celeron 1.7GHz. Even that video card will outpace the rest of your system, so no point in spending any more money than that. Make sure you get a 128-bit version of it.

Also, make sure your computer has an AGP slot before you buy anything. If you do have the slot...

Your system documentation should say if it has this expansion slot.

If you're REALLY on a budget, you could go with an FX5200 from Nvidia, but you're saving $20 or so.

Stay away from ATI, no SM 3.0 support. As Harry potter uses unreal engine, new games might not be able to support because next unreal engine requires Direct X 9.0C compatible gfx card...

LOL, and her computer will be able to run games that will use the next Unreal engine? Dude, she's got a Celeron 1.7GHz!

Ok I'm A Geforce fan only due to bad experience from ATI cards

the Geforce 6600 has dropped to £130 in PCWorld now that the 7800 is out

the Ati X700 is about the same price with similar quality

If the offer looks to good to be true it probably is

my advice is don't buy budget cards I have a useless stack on my shelf of cards like the Geforce FX5200 256MB sounds good but no good at games

Please note Radeon 9550 is a budget version of the 9600XT

on a limb here
I presume you've got a Pentium 2/3 machine as those are limited to 512MB Ram of PC100/133 memory, it may be time for a system upgrade.
