I have a problem when running Vice City, although it might be occuring in other games aswell, I haven't tried. After a few minutes of play, the screen just turns into lots of little yellow and orange squares, and while the audio carries on, the computer locks and I have to reset.
What could be causing this, and does anybody know a solution?

Thanks in advance.

check your cooling looks like it could your graphics card is overheating and failing, how old is it, open the PC up and give it a good clean with an air duster, next check all conections and ensure you have downloaded latest drivers for the graphcis, motherboard, sound or any other hardware on your system.

good advice. It could also be your cpu which is overheating.

Do you have a facility to check the temp from within Windows? If not, check in the BIOS next time it crashes. If it's over 60 celsius you need some better cooling.

Hello,
I had a similar problem. the textures of GTA Vice City showed like errors of polygons. I don't know why. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600, 512 MB with GForce FX 5200 128 MB I always turn on my air conditioned to avoid that heat. I had a card names Voodoo 5500 and it played very well, no errors.

I just fixed this problem on my pc. It´s easy, get the latest patch/driver for your card then UNINSTALL the game (your saved games will remain on /my documents/gta vice city), reboot, install the game again.
Note that you must NOT have your anti-virus software running during the install of the driver AND the game. I think i had to do all this because GTA VC detects your video card during installation. And i think the anti-virus warning so many driver installation softwares show is important too.
Anyways, it worked for me!

Athlon XP 2600+ / 256 RAM / GeForce FX 5200 / Driver version(updated) 5.3.0.3
