I currently have a Radeon 9700 pro graphics card. I'm in the process of purchasing a computer which has a few AGP slots & PCI-Express slots.
Is it possible to use my current graphics with the graphics card in the other computer? If so, what are the benefits/disadvantages?

The operating system of the new computer is windows xp pro. The specs are as follows:

AMD 64 FX55
1GB Dual Memory
250GB Hard disk
DVD-RW/CD-RW 16x D-L drive
256MB AGP graphics card already installed.

If you're taking about just, will it work? Yeah. if it's Got PCI-e and AGP that agp is likely x8 and will take any AGP card out there. if you're taking about using both at the same time. That really up to preference. With two grfx cards you could have double or quadurple monitors. If you want to use it for gaming no dice there, unless you use an nVidia SLI compatible MoBo, since Radeon hasn't come out with their Crossfire yet.

I'm not going for the dual monitor thing. So you really don't think having two graphics cards working as a "team" would give any benefits for single monitor gaming?

btw. What information should i gather before considering having 2 graphics cards?

What does this "Agp x8" mean?

Thanx for your reply Johnny.

You can't team graphics cards like you're speaking of unless you get an SLI Nforce4 motherboard. Those don't even have AGP slots, period.

8x means that there are 8 pipelines running to and from the AGP slot, this increases speed because it doesn't have to use just one pipeline to process everything into. It reduces bottlenecks.

SLI = Scan Line Interleaving
