I was woundering since it was recommended that i not use my laptop for gaming, if i could take my old comp's tower and stick it next to my laptop and somehow like just use my laptop as the monitor so all i would need extra in my room was the tower?

Sure, you can do that!

Just make sure you don't ever need to use the laptop again...ever. You're also gonna need a soldering iron, duct tape, and a very heavy hammer... :-)

my only guess would be tv out on tower, tv in on laptop? but that requires a tv tuner, plus it'll have a second or two lag (my tv tuner does) and you'll have to use some program to even display the stuff, etc, etc, etc. other than that, no.

If space is at a premium, buy a flat lcd monitor. It'll take up less space than a crt. Or if you have a tv in the room, just use that for the tower.

A laptop can use an external monitor (lcd/crt) to output, but you can't reverse it unless you have the ability to capture video.

Or, if you set up a network, you can have the tower on, and you can log-in remotely to access it. It'll be slow, so you won't be able to game or anything, but for word processing or whatever, you can do that.
