Well I think my USB ports have killed both my jump drive and my gamepad.

I will speak more specifically of my gamepad though. It worked for a while on my front USB ports. Now suddenly after a couple months (and a reformat) winXP will NOT detect it. I know the gamepad is getting electricity through the ports because it has these fans inside the hand grips and the red LED light will come on when it is plugged in, but when I plug it into ANY of my USB ports it will NOT be detected...therefore I cannot play any games. I did not use to have any of these problems. Did my USB ports kill my gamepad? Or whats goin on? Any suggestions?

Make sure you have service pak2 installed. It has added support for USB 1.0/2.0

Make sure you have up to date drivers for your motherboards chipset.

If all eles fails, look on the back of your pc for integrated USB ports.

I have Service pack 2 installed, and you missed the part where I said:

"but when I plug it into ANY of my USB ports it will NOT be detected..."

That includes the 4 on the back of my computer that are integrated with my mobo.

Also my mobo(chipset) is up to date.

Check any USB port with a USB mouse. If the mouse works, then your port is fine and its the controller that needs replaced.
