Subject: Upgrading 3D card! Help!
OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: AMD 4200+ 64 X2, 1GB RAM
Comment:
I was wondering what would be a good card to update to.

Current comp specs are:
Processor: AMD 4200+ 66 X2 (2.21 GHz)
3D card: GeForce 7600GS 512mb
RAM: 1GB

I really don't like that I have to put FEAR on medium settings to prevent the hics and skipping of frames... If I were to update to a current 3D card, would it stop the skipping?

If I were to update, would I have to update my computer as well? I feel my computer is fine as it is... Aside from maybe getting more RAM...

Money really isn't an issue.

Can anyone suggest some good 3D cards, that are current? I've been browsing and have some in mind.

Funny...Even my P42.8HT,6600GT128DDR3(oc 550/1800), 1GB DDR400 seems to be running FEAR 1024x768 all high except for texture in medium and no soft shadows with no problem at all.

I suspect that you're using 7600GS 512DDR2, the low speed DDR2 may be the cause of the hickups. Try to overclock the memory speed and see the difference. Slowly if not you will fry your card. There's plenty of site that can teach you how to overclock. just google for it.

Other than that, X1950Pro is fast, affordable if not cheap and wont cost you your kidney.

If you're gonna upgrade, I'd go for a DX10 card so you're not facing another upgrade again for DX10 games. Either an 8800GTS 320M or a 8600GT would be good fits.
