Im sorry i dont know much about this stuff and was wondering if anybody could tell me whats the best motherboards, cpus, gpus, and sound cards out there within a reasonable price that best suit gaming like games for windows (vista). Thanks.

To start with, I suggest you avoid Vista for a gaming rig. The vast majority of games play much better with XP. But if you insist on having it, a dual boot setup with XP would be the way to go.

As for hardware recommendations, it depends on your budget & your CPU preference (AMD or Intel). Do you have any 'old' hardware that you plan on using or is this gonna be a 100% new build?

Excuse my ignorance but ill just tell you what i have now and ill ask your advice on what i should upgrade, and also games for windows is only useable through vista isnt it? So i guess i have no choice although i have heard of vista having trouble with modern hardware.

XP Professional 2002 service pack 2
AMD Athlon(tm) XP +2400
2.00 GHz/ 512MB RAM

Oh and i hear amd is good for gaming or is that true? And my budget is around 400 to 600 euro. Like i said i dont know alot of prices, i could be way off here....

Don't look at the latest games cause your ram, current processor isn't going to cut it.

If you want to play the latest games decently i'd suggest start building a new pc instead of investing more money into that one.
