thats a pretty good system. upgrade to 2gb of RAM if you can, and maybe a 3800+ instead of 3500+ and you will be good. htat is already quite a nice system. especially considering im on a 1.0ghz p3 ;)

Geez man, the only thing that you don't have is PCI-E, but the system you have will already run any game out there..

You do not need 2 gig of memory, 2 gigs is a WASTE of money and memory... Your system is ungodly compared to most, be happy with it.

SLi motherboard
SLi compatible PSU
2x Geforce 7800 gtx's
AMD FX55/57

^^^That's pretty top of the line right now, and those compenents would add up to about £150 I'd estimate.

1RRW, is that British Armed Forces? If so, all the best.

hi
2 gig ram seems to be the way to go according to some , im not 100% certain why .. but look here latest top specs,
http://www.meshcomputers.com/updated/xtreme_4.htm

would your current x850 work in a ati crossfire config ie pcie?? if so buy a crossfire sli to bridge the two.

http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/video/ati/r4xx/crossfire/index.shtml

may be a cheaper way of upgrading rather than 2x7800 (lol, affordable in most ppls dreams.)

amd fx55 is way overpriced in UK, id go for the dual core option X2 4800+ undoubtedly this is the way forward with AMD and money no object, hey youve earned it! ;).

if your discarding any of the bits while upgrading , my address is ...lol

hey man, i didnt see the part about being in Iraq, good luck man, i mean it. you have earned a reward when you get back...
i think 2gigs of RAM is good because that means the system will be competent for the longest time to come. the more you upgrade now the more time before you need to upgrade again...

Dude.. 2 gigs is over kill, One gig covers everything and then some.. Im running 512 MBs of ram and I do "light" gaming. ( As in I play with medium settings on. Im not rich so I cant afford top of the line rig.) And from all the posts iv seen on here everyone thinks that anything above 1 gig is over kill, And I can see why. 512 covers my need.. Unless if your going to be running a server.. you dont need 2 gigs of ram.. 1 gig will make it perfect.

"i think 2gigs of RAM is good because that means the system will be competent for the longest time to come."

Not picking on you in particular here, just a rant about this. It's hilarious to me so many people will spend money to install 2gigs of RAM. They stick it in their system, and forget about it. I've never seen anyone discuss that should you put that RAM in, you're probably not even using it unless you do some tweaking in XP, which I don't even think Home version supports those tweaks. On top of that, to use the tweaks, the app has to be specially coded.

Then these same people claim their systems perform better.

*scatching head* Is anyone else puzzled about this besides me?

Walter, that's an intelligent question, and precisely what I'm getting at. You have to know how to tweak a system right to utilize that amount of RAM. Most people who run 2 gigs of RAM don't ask.

However, with the amount of RAM required by many games today, and the raw amount of data that they are, what you're suggesting is probably not feasible with only 2 gigs of RAM.

Probably the best solutions would be to set your page file properly, and enabling the /3GB switch in your boot.ini.

Sheesh! And i thought I uprgaded my system when I got home from the sandbox in Feb. I'll trade you, and you can scrap mine and still afford a better system.
