im having trouble instaling a new 9800 pro i know how to instal it, but i think im missing sumtin.....i was previusly running a nvidia card so 1st thing i did was disable the nvidia driver then i shut down the comp and removed the nvidia card and and put in the 9800 i plugged in the wire for the power and i started it up it would freeze at my bios screen. i have a 400 watt new power suply and i was running 10 fans but thinkin that might be the problem i cut down to 3 fans, so after that didint work i tried starting the computer up without the monitor cable in, it would get past bios and then i could plug it in adn windows would load up. it loaded and there was screen corruption as if the card was having overclocking aftifacts like the mouse would make a trail of glitch through the screen when i moved it then would freeze up in a matter of 5 secounds after. so then i thought it might have been the fan or something like that but the fan was working properly that card was hot but not real hot. So how do i go upon fixin this? i was thinking may b flash the card to default, but i dont have default b.c i just got the card its no crazy 9800 pro its the 128 version you get from ati's site.please help if you can.
thx Ron

'flash the card to default'
So you've flashed the card?Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb
AMD Barton 2800
Asus A7N8X E-Deluxe
512 DDRAM PC2700

no i didnt i jus got it 1 hour ago....i didnt do anything to it yet and i was wounderin if that would fix it.

I strongly advise you not to flash it no. It could void your warranty. If you do flash it, and the card actually has a manurfacturing fault, you're stuffed.
Try taking the ATi card out and putting the Nvidia card back in. If the Nvidia card works as normal, it probably isn't a hardware problem.
If this is the case, returning the card and asking for a new one may be an option.Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb
AMD Barton 2800
Asus A7N8X E-Deluxe
512 DDRAM PC2700

You didn't mention that you uninstalled the Nvidia drivers before installing your ati card.
first uninstall any/all video drivers you have then start in safe mode and run driver cleaner: http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
clean all ati files and all Nvidia files then do a cab cleaning.
After all that, start up in windows normally and make sure you're not connected to the Internet and install the 4.6 catalyst.
Reboot and see how it works.
btw,I mentioned the 4.6 because many people have been having problems with the 4.7.
Let us know how it works.

I would reinstall your Nvidia and if it works I would take the ati back for an exchange.
I'm guessing that you have a defective card.
